Skipping Christmas - John Grisham

Perhaps a little late for Christmas season but this is a light, short fairy tale about a family planning to skip Christmas and go on a cruise instead. Their daughter with whom they'd celebrated Christmas for the past twenty years was away in Peru and they wanted to do something different this season by staying away from the maddening festival rush and having some time to themselves on the cruise to the Caribbean. The plan however doesn't ever materialize. The book pokes fun at the craziness galore at Christmas time but also shows how people can come together in true spirit to help out others in need.
