Riot - Shashi Tharoor

Another great book by Tharoor. This one is based on the Hindu-Muslim riots of 1989- over the Ramjanambhumi dispute. The story is set in a place called Zalilgarh and communal tensions are running high. However in the background there is actually a love storm brewing which will take its toll as well. Another very readable and engrossing book which definitely increased my knowledge of the 1989 riots as well as how riots in general brew from the ground up. The book also plays with human emotions and convictions and how love can make someone give up all he or she has for love.

It helps us to see, honestly and compassionately, the delicate treacheries we can be most blind to in ourselves, especially in times of triumph or grievous pain. --Washington Post
